PROTON Power Systems PLC
Proton Motor Fuel Cell GmbH is a leader in the development and production of independent fuel cell and hybrid systems. The fuel cells built by Proton Motor Fuel Cell GmbH extract electrical energy from the chemical reaction between oxygen and hydrogen fuel. The acquired energy is then used for electric motors, such as in automobiles. In addition, the company creates hybrid systems, where fuel cells are equipped with a battery. At peak demands, the engine can use the currently produced energy from the fuel cell, plus the previously stored braking energy in the battery. A particular advantage of the fuel cell, in contracts to the internal combustion engine, is that pure water is accrued instead of environmentally harmful emissions. In the foreseeable future, this makes them one of the few realistic alternatives for vehicles to diminish their dependency on fossil fuels. With the hybrid systems, the energy costs of a vehicle can be reduced up to 50 % and compared to a diesel engine, only 30 % of nominal power needs to be installed. Proton Motor Fuel Cell GmbH’s products can be operated for mobile (for example in forklifts, ships, buses, etc.) or stationary (e. g. uninterruptible power supply) use. The company originated from Magnet Motor in 1998 and has a profound knowledge in its core business. In order to gain access to international finance markets, Proton Power Systems Plc. was founded and went public in 2006 at the London Stock Exchange. Proton Motor Fuel Cell is its 100 % subsidiary. |
